Senior Capstone:
Remote Controlled DiWheel

Description

My senior capstone team was given the task to design and construct a two wheeled, mobile, durable, and remote controlled vehicle on which different hardware could be mounted and kept level. The team composed of myself and four Mechanical Engineering students. My role in the project was to chose the electrical components and design the electrical system and software.

I utilized the Arduino Uno microcontroller to handle all inputs and outputs of the system. Radio control was done via a wireless Arduino shield that sent and received information to the USB receiver plugged into a PC. The DiWheel had 10 speeds and an auto-ramp function that made sure the speed changed smoothly. The two motors were powered by large scooter batteries and were controlled through two motor driver circuits.

The project was a huge success and we were very proud of our accomplishment.
